Volcanic history
Whakamuhu (or Glover Park) is situated on the rim of a volcanic crater. A significant pā once stood on the highest point of the hill, overlooking St Heliers Bay. The area was excavated in 1982 by the Auckland branch of the Historic Places Trust.

Aside from the tuff ring, there wasn’t a great deal to see here volcanically, but it was a pleasant place to walk around. I think I described it on Facebook as a walking area for posh dogs.

Directions and facilities
You can access Whakamuhu from Glover Road, Kohimaramara, or Waitara Road. The park contains a playground, car park, and public toilets.
Happy adventuring,
